Fukagawa Edo Museum hosts an Edo townspeople performance on August 9

Fukagawa Tokkuriza will give two 30-minute performances while moving through the museum's full-scale late-Edo streetscape.

Fukagawa Edo Museum will host an Edo townspeople performance by the Fukagawa Tokkuriza theater company on Sunday, August 9, 2026. The actors will move through the permanent gallery's full-scale recreation of a Fukagawa neighborhood from the late Edo period.

There are two 30-minute performances, from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. and from 2:15 to 2:45 p.m. Because the performers use the recreated town itself rather than a separate stage, regular visitors can encounter the program while exploring the exhibition.

No reservation is required. The performance is included with permanent-gallery admission, which is ¥400 for adults and ¥50 for elementary, junior-high and high-school students. The museum is at 1-3-28 Shirakawa near Kiyosumi-shirakawa Station. Check the official event page before visiting for any schedule changes.
