Kiyosumi Gardens will open a disaster-preparedness exhibition on August 8
The nine-day exhibition considers inclusive disaster preparedness at a garden that served as an evacuation site after an earthquake and wartime air raids.
Kiyosumi Gardens will hold the exhibition 'Disaster Preparedness That Leaves No One Behind' from Saturday, August 8, through Sunday, August 16, 2026. It will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day in Taisho Memorial Hall inside the garden.
The exhibition draws on the site's history as an evacuation place during the Great Kanto Earthquake and the Tokyo air raids. Admission to the exhibition itself is free. Regular admission to Kiyosumi Gardens is ¥150 for adults and ¥70 for visitors aged 65 or older; elementary school children and younger children, as well as junior-high students who live or study in Tokyo, enter the garden free.
Kiyosumi Gardens is at 3-3-9 Kiyosumi, Koto City, about a three-minute walk from Kiyosumi-shirakawa Station. The garden has no visitor parking. Check the Tokyo Metropolitan Park Association event page for the latest information before visiting.
