Hogalee's Liminal exhibition opens in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa on August 8

New works layer a manga-like 'girl' figure with different materials to explore boundaries between reality and fiction.

KANA KAWANISHI GALLERY in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa opens Hogalee's solo exhibition 'Liminal' on Saturday, August 8, 2026. It runs through Saturday, September 12, and is open Wednesday to Saturday from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., with final entry requested by 5:45 p.m.

Hogalee repeatedly uses a manga-like line drawing of a symbolic 'girl' figure. The exhibition interprets liminal states between places and conditions through layered canvas works made with materials including acrylic paint and masking tape. A new work titled 'Line II' is among the pieces introduced by the gallery.

The opening reception is scheduled for August 8 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The gallery is at 4-7-6 Shirakawa, Koto City. It is normally closed Sunday through Tuesday and on public holidays, and will also close for summer from August 12 through 15. Check the official exhibition page before visiting.
