Tokyo Mizumachi Tanabata Orhime Festival runs July 4 at Ushijima Shrine and Sumida Park
A shrine procession, prayers, bon dance, and live music are scheduled between Asakusa and Tokyo Skytree.
The Sumida Arts and Cultural Information Site lists the Sumida Tokyo Mizumachi Tanabata Orhime Festival for Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Ushijima Shrine and Sumida Park Soyokaze Hiroba.
The posted schedule begins with a shrine-maiden procession at 16:15, followed by prayers at Ushijima Shrine at 16:30 and a shrine-maiden dance dedication at the shrine's kagura hall at 17:00. From 18:00, the program moves to Sumida Park Soyokaze Hiroba for a disaster-prevention-themed bon dance, with live music scheduled around 19:30 and the event ending at 21:00.
This is useful for people walking between Asakusa, Tokyo Mizumachi, and Tokyo Skytree because the program moves from the shrine side to the park side in the early evening. The notice says that in rainy weather the event is limited to Ushijima Shrine from 16:30 to 18:00, so check the latest official information before going.
