Edo-Tokyo Museum offers walk-in summer programs from August 19 to 22

Free daily activities include collection talks, Japanese music experiences and a workshop making an Edo-period toy.

Edo-Tokyo Museum will hold a series of summer programs for children and young visitors from Wednesday, August 19, through Saturday, August 22, 2026. All programs accept participants on the day and have no separate participation fee.

The schedule includes an Extreme Edo-Tokyo Museum trial and a collection talk on August 19, Japanese koto and shakuhachi performances with hands-on sessions on August 19 and 20, and a paper-toy workshop on August 20. Renovation-point tours run on August 20 and 21, while old-tool activities and a woodblock-print keychain workshop are scheduled for August 21 and 22.

Some programs have limited capacity or distribute numbered tickets, and elementary-school children must join the Extreme Edo-Tokyo Museum trial with a guardian. Programs held in the permanent gallery require a separate admission ticket. The museum is at 1-4-1 Yokoami in Ryogoku; check the official schedule and reception details before visiting.
