Fukagawa Edo Museum presents creative joruri Ashiarai Yashiki on August 29
A 30-minute narrative performance with gidayu shamisen will take place by the fire lookout tower in the permanent gallery, with no reservation required.
Fukagawa Edo Museum will present the creative joruri work Ashiarai Yashiki on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The 30-minute performance begins at 2:00 p.m. by the fire lookout tower in the museum's permanent gallery.
Joruri is narrative music accompanied by gidayu shamisen. Performer Matsuya Nozawa will present Ashiarai Yashiki, a work based on one of the Seven Wonders of Edo. Because the performance takes place inside the full-scale recreation of late-Edo Fukagawa, visitors can combine it with a tour of the permanent exhibition.
No reservation is required. Admission is ¥400 for adults and ¥50 for elementary, junior-high and high-school students, and the performance is included in that fee. Fukagawa Edo Museum is at 1-3-28 Shirakawa near Kiyosumi-shirakawa Station. Check the official event page before visiting for any schedule changes.
