41st Wanpaku Sumo National Tournament comes to Ryogoku Kokugikan on August 2
Elementary school students in grades four through six who advanced through local qualifiers will compete in grade-level tournaments.
The 41st Wanpaku Sumo National Tournament will be held at Ryogoku Kokugikan on Sunday, August 2, 2026. The national event brings together elementary school students who advanced through local and block-level qualifying tournaments.
The organizer says competitors will enter separate individual knockout tournaments by grade. Each grade will produce one yokozuna, one ozeki, two sekiwake, and four komusubi. The national tournament allows a maximum of 110 teams.
The venue is Ryogoku Kokugikan at 1-3-28 Yokoami, Sumida City. Public attendance is free. The organizer's public page does not yet list a visitor timetable or detailed entry procedure, so check its latest notice before visiting.
