9th Edo Machi Taito Geirakusai opens in Asakusa on August 30

A teenage theater program at Kaminari 5656 Kaikan begins a series of theater, film, and performing-arts events running into February 2027.

The ninth Edo Machi Taito Geirakusai will open in Asakusa on Sunday, August 30, 2026, with the Teenage Stage theater program at Kaminari 5656 Kaikan. Taito City says the wider performing-arts festival will continue with theater, film, and traditional-entertainment programs through February 2027.

The opening venue is Tokiwa Hall on the fifth floor of Kaminari 5656 Kaikan at 3-6-1 Asakusa. Later listed programs include a silent-film event in September and theater productions in Asakusa and Ueno, while an Asakusa Public Hall program is scheduled for December.

The city's announcement is a program overview and says details will be updated as they are confirmed. It does not yet list the opening event's time, admission terms, or reservation method, and dates or venues may change. Check the official festival information before planning a visit.
