Shitamachi Tanabata Festival runs July 3-7 along Kappabashi Hondori
The roughly 1.2 km street from the Asakusa side toward Ueno will be decorated for Tanabata.
The 39th Shitamachi Tanabata Festival is scheduled for Friday, July 3, through Tuesday, July 7, 2026, along Kappabashi Hondori.
The official festival site lists the venue as Kappabashi Hondori, from Showa-dori to Kokusai-dori, about 1.2 km. The main event days are planned for July 4 and 5.
The Taito City tourism site describes the street as a route running from the Asakusa Rokku side toward Ueno, with decorations, local stalls, performances, and places to write wishes on tanzaku. Check the festival site for the latest program and street information.
