Asakusa Shrine will host the night program Asakusa Nights: Music in Shrines on June 17 and 25

A candlelit evening program mixing Buddhist chant, jazz, and shrine dance is scheduled in the Asakusa Shrine grounds.

MOONRISE says its outdoor night program Asakusa Nights: Music in Shrines will be held at Asakusa Shrine on Wednesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 25, 2026. The official schedule lists a 17:00 opening time, performances from 18:00 to 21:00, and a 2,000-yen ticket, with food and drinks sold separately.

The program combines shomyo Buddhist chant, jazz-oriented live music, and miko dance inside the shrine grounds. The organizer also says the event is candlelit and that food and sake from a Meguro-based shop will be available in limited quantities.

For people planning an evening stop in Asakusa, the practical point is that this is an outdoor event at the shrine and rain is not an automatic cancellation. The organizer says the event will go ahead in rain, with same-day cancellation decisions only for severe weather, so it is worth checking the official site or social accounts before heading out.
