The Sumida Hokusai Museum will open Hokusai and Hiroshige: Two Maestros, Two Visions of Mount Fuji on June 23

The Ryogoku-area museum is preparing a 10th anniversary exhibition comparing Mount Fuji works by Hokusai and Hiroshige.

The Sumida Hokusai Museum will begin its 10th anniversary exhibition Hokusai and Hiroshige: Two Maestros, Two Visions of Mount Fuji on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. The show will continue through Sunday, August 30 in the third-floor exhibition room.

The museum says the exhibition compares how Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige each approached Mount Fuji, one of the best-known subjects in ukiyo-e landscape prints.

Opening hours are 9:30 to 17:30 with last entry at 17:00. The first term runs from June 23 to July 26, the second from July 28 to August 30, and the museum is generally closed on Mondays except July 20, with a closure on July 21.
