Edo-Tokyo Museum is showing its lacquerware collection feature through August 2
A new themed display on lacquer craft objects opened on June 9 at the museum in Ryogoku.
Edo-Tokyo Museum in Ryogoku has started a themed exhibition called Beauty Handed Down: Edo-Tokyo Museum Lacquerware Collection. The official page says it runs from Tuesday, June 9 to Sunday, August 2, 2026, inside the sixth-floor permanent exhibition area.
The museum says the display introduces selected lacquer craft works from its collection, including objects connected to the Tokugawa family and writing tools decorated with views of Yoshinoyama. Opening hours are 9:30 to 17:30, with Saturday closing extended to 19:30 and last entry 30 minutes before closing.
For visitors planning a Ryogoku museum stop, the practical point is that this exhibition is inside the permanent exhibition area rather than a separate ticketed special show. The museum’s ticket page lists regular admission at 800 yen for adults, 400 yen for visitors 65 and older, 480 yen for university students, and 300 yen for high school students.
