Fukagawa Edo Museum opens an Akira Iwasaki hyogu exhibition on July 9

Works by the Koto City registered intangible cultural asset holder will be shown in the basement recreation hall through July 12.

Fukagawa Edo Museum in Shirakawa opens an exhibition of work by hyogu craftsman Akira Iwasaki on Thursday, July 9, 2026. The exhibition runs through Sunday, July 12, in the museum's basement recreation hall.

Hyogu is the craft used for scrolls, fusuma sliding doors, folding screens, and related fittings. The museum page says the exhibition introduces the appeal of the craft through works by Iwasaki, who is listed as a Koto City registered intangible cultural asset holder and a Tokyo traditional craftsperson.

Hours are 9:30 to 17:00, with admission until 16:30. Entry is included in the permanent exhibition admission fee. Related demonstrations or talks are listed for July 11 and July 12, but visitors should check the official page before going because the details are part of the museum notice.
