Taito's shopping-street Machizemi opened applications on July 3

Small-group classes led by local shop owners are planned across Taito, including areas useful for Asakusa and Kuramae readers.

Taito City has opened applications for its shopping-street Machizemi program from Friday, July 3, 2026. The program sends participants around neighborhood shopping streets in the ward for small-group classes taught by shop owners.

The city page says 38 shops will hold 43 classes in categories such as learning, hands-on experiences, health, parent-child programs, food, and beauty. Because the program covers neighborhood shopping streets across Taito, it is relevant for people looking for a practical reason to visit local shops around Asakusa, Kuramae, and nearby areas.

Applications are made directly to each participating shop, except for some tour-style classes connected with Senzoku-dori Shopping Street, Yoshiwara Shotenkai, and Iroha-kai Shopping Street, which use the city form. Class capacity, venue, date, belongings, and material fees vary, so check the official class list before applying.
