Basho Memorial Museum near Kiyosumi-Shirakawa is temporarily closed from June 16 to 21

The main building, annex meeting room, and historic garden are closed for fumigation work.

The Basho Memorial Museum says it is temporarily closing the whole facility from Tuesday, June 16, through Sunday, June 21, 2026, because of insect-control and fumigation work for stored materials.

The notice says the closure covers the main museum building, the annex meeting room, and the historic observation garden. It also notes that Monday, June 22, is the museum's regular closed day.

For people planning a walk between Morishita and Kiyosumi-Shirakawa, this matters because the museum side stop will be unavailable for a full week. If you were planning to visit around the Sumida River or Basho-related sites, it is worth checking the official page again before going from June 23 onward.
