Edo-Tokyo Museum offers beginner ukiyo-e lecture on September 10

The 90-minute lecture explains ukiyo-e materials and techniques, using comparisons with Western painting, with applications due August 22.

Edo-Tokyo Museum will hold a beginner lecture on ukiyo-e materials and techniques on Thursday, September 10, 2026. Museum curator Choi Jeongeun will explain how ukiyo-e was made and use Western painting as a comparison for understanding different forms of expression.

The 90-minute lecture begins at 2:00 p.m. in the museum's Main Hall. Capacity is 350 and the fee is ¥1,000. Advance application is required online or by return postcard; if applications exceed capacity, places will be assigned by lottery.

Applications close on Saturday, August 22. For return postcards, an August 22 postmark is valid, and each postcard may be used for one person and one lecture only. Edo-Tokyo Museum is at 1-4-1 Yokoami in Ryogoku. Check the official event page before applying for any changes.
