Ryogoku hosts a launch event for The Globe-Trotter Travel Guide: Sumida City on September 2

The Edo-Tokyo Museum program includes a koto performance, a guidebook introduction and a talk on local Edo culture.

A launch event for The Globe-Trotter Travel Guide: Sumida City will be held in the main hall of the Edo-Tokyo Museum in Ryogoku on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. The two-hour program starts at 6:00 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.

The program begins with a short koto concert by students from Tokyo Metropolitan Honjo High School. It also includes an introduction to the guidebook and a talk about Edo culture in Sumida with Naruto-oyakata, the former ozeki Kotooshu, members of the guidebook's editorial team and local representatives. A new walking leaflet, Sumida no Arukikata: Edo ni Somaru, will also be presented for the first time.

The event is free and limited to the first 350 registered participants. The venue is the Edo-Tokyo Museum main hall at 1-4-1 Yokoami, Sumida City. Check the Sumida City page for the registration form and the latest event details before visiting.
