Edo Taito Traditional Crafts Center opens summer craft classes for elementary students on August 21-22

Each 60-minute class lets children make either a bamboo-blind coaster or a leather key holder with a craftsperson; applications close July 31.

The Edo Taito Traditional Crafts Center in Asakusa will hold summer craft classes for elementary school students on Friday, August 21, and Saturday, August 22, 2026. Each session combines about 20 minutes of explanation with about 40 minutes of hands-on work guided by a craftsperson.

Applicants choose either a bamboo-blind coaster or a leather key holder. Sessions run from 10:30 to 11:30 and from 13:30 to 14:30 on both days. Capacity per session is six children for the coaster and four for the key holder, and each option costs ¥1,000, payable in cash on the day.

Applications are accepted online through Friday, July 31. A lottery will be used if applications exceed capacity, with results sent by email after the deadline. The venue address is 2-22-13 Asakusa, Taito City, inside the Asakusa Hisago-dori shopping street. Check the city page before applying because schedules may change.
