Sumida Aquarium sets pool-debut dates for two baby penguins
Jinbee is scheduled to make its public pool debut on July 5, followed by Kibi on July 11 at the fifth-floor penguin pool.
Sumida Aquarium has announced public pool-debut dates for two Magellanic penguin chicks born in April 2026. Jinbee is scheduled for Sunday, July 5, and Kibi for Saturday, July 11, at the fifth-floor penguin pool.
The public debut is planned for about 30 minutes sometime between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Aquarium admission is required, but no separate fee is listed for watching the debut. Visitors are asked to gather near the penguin pool when the time arrives.
Before the debut dates, the aquarium will also hold paid early-morning public practice sessions on July 3, 4, 9, and 11. Each session is limited to 15 people and tickets went on sale at noon on June 25. The aquarium notes that the schedule may change or be canceled depending on the chicks' condition, so check the official notice before going.
