Taito City will open family fireworks areas at parks in Asakusa, Kuramae, and Yanaka from August 7
Hand-held fireworks will be allowed at Sumida Park Sanyabori Hiroba, Kuramae Park, and one other park through August 23.
Taito City announced that it will open Oyako Hanabi Hiroba family fireworks areas at three city parks from Friday, August 7, to Sunday, August 23, 2026.
The city says fireworks use is generally prohibited in city parks, but this year's program expands last year's trial at Sumida Park Sanyabori Hiroba to three locations. The listed parks are Sumida Park Sanyabori Hiroba in Asakusa, Kuramae Park in Kuramae, and Tennoji Park in Yanaka.
Use is limited to hand-held fireworks from 18:00 to 21:00. Participants must be junior high school age or younger with a guardian, and each group is limited to five people. The city also lists rules such as bringing a water bucket for extinguishing fireworks and taking trash home, and will hold a fireworks safety school at the three parks on August 7.
